Vacancy: Senior Geo-environmental Consultant (Permanent, Full Time)
Our client has an immediate vacancy for a confident, dynamic, and hardworking individual with experience in the environmental aspects of geotechnical engineering to join a growing team of geotechnical engineers, environmental scientists, and structural surveyors. The company is a consultancy based in West Sussex and offer a salary package commensurate with your abilities together with the opportunity to progress within your chosen career. Responsible for projects from inception to completion, to include reviewing the scope, preparing quotations, producing a RAMS for site works, attending site and completing a full report. We are seeking an individual who can communicate with and deliver high quality solutions to our diverse range of clients. Ideally someone who is self-driven and ambitious.
Role Description:
Our client requires a Geo-environmental Engineer / Contaminated Land Specialist; to take a senior role within a small team of Engineering Geologists, undertaking Phase 1 Desk Study, Phase 2 Site Investigation, Phase 3 Remediation and Phase 4 Validation projects throughout the UK, based at our Head Office in West Sussex.
This will include management of the day-to-day deliverables for our Geo-environmental Department, aiding in the procurement of work, managing site operations, the production of succinct and accurate excavation logs, appropriate sampling, scheduling of testing, producing risk assessments (RAMS, GQRA etc) and Phase 1 Phase 4 Factual and Interpretive Reports.
We consider the position to be suitable for an experienced project engineer working within development biased Site Investigation who is seeking their first senior role within the industry. The role will report directly to the Principal Engineer within the Site Investigation division.
Required Skills:
The successful applicant should be qualified to undergraduate level in Contaminated Land / Environmental Science and have a minimum of 5 years postgraduate experience in Contaminated Land assessment. A Post Graduate degree level qualification in a related discipline is desirable, but not essential.
The applicant should be able to show experience of managing site works, appropriate sampling techniques and logging soils / rocks to current British Standards. Applicants should also show experience of the production of factual and interpretive reports, including CSMs. You must be client facing, self-motivated, work well within a team environment and able to mentor and develop junior engineers.
A strong work and team ethic are essential; the applicant should be adaptable and capable of managing their own workload to produce a consistent and quality service to our clients’ requirements. Strong written and spoken communication skills are also considered of paramount importance.
The job role will involve travel to investigation sites and applicants should hold a clean UK manual driving license. Transport to site will be provided.
