Our client is looking for a geotech / earthworks engineer for a 3-month contract starting mid-March, possibly earlier.
The requirement is for an engineer to be site based for a large project where the client is the geotechnical designer for a huge warehouse development. The site is nr Luton and preferably someone located within commuting distance to make things easier with Covid. There will be technical back-up.
The role will involve liaising with an earthworks contractor who will be undertaking a cut / fill exercise to level a sloping site for a 10 ha. footprint building. There is also a cut basement excavation over about 1.5 ha. area, so temporary batter stability and checking groundwater control will be involved.
Important that there will be time spent checking lab and in-situ test data, so a good knowledge of lab and site testing and material management will be important. The client requires a European type of plate load testing to be undertaken to a German DIN standard (EV1/EV2 ratio). The engineer will be trained up, but a good knowledge of plate load testing would help.
Ideally the right candidate will be organised with enough experience to represent our client in meetings with the contractor’s team. The earthworks contractor will need the engineers to be have good technical knowledge.
5+ years experience ideally.
