Engineering Geologist

Helen Jerrard

Due to an increasing workload, our client wishes to recruit an additional engineering geologist or geo-environmental engineer. The role involves working within a small team of engineers, reporting to Principal Engineer and/or Director level. The company is based in Gloucestershire however site-work across much of the South Midlands (and occasionally further afield) is routinely undertaken, thus you must have your own vehicle.
The role involves everything from initial desk studies of site history and environmental records, through to designing and supervising all types of mainstream ground investigation (trial pitting, window sampling, rotary and cable percussion drilling, soakaway testing etc) and interpretive reporting. Most projects are undertaken as combined geotechnical and geo-environmental assessments. Regular site work should be expected, which can on occasions be physically demanding.
Whilst the ideal candidate would comprise a geology or engineering geology graduate with say 3-5 years’ worth of relevant experience we are prepared to consider other candidates since the necessary job-specific training will be given. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience; expenses and mileage are reimbursed at cost. The company operates a Workplace Pension plan, to which you would be enrolled subject to eligibility as per government guidance. A private health care scheme is provided and 28 days holiday per year. A home-working facility is also operated.
